Criteria:

• Females who are high school seniors in the state of Georgia who are an active parent to a child (or children)
• Must be accepted to any technical school or two- or four-year college
• Must plan to complete a program of study or degree at a technical school or two- or four-year college
• Must complete an application package
• Students with financial need will be given preference
• No GPA, service, or extracurricular requirements

Application Period: February 1 – April 30 of the mother's senior year. Applications must be postmarked by April 30.

Scholarship: The winning student will receive a $2,000 scholarship, payable directly to the college institution of her choice. Upon notification of winning, the student must fill out a scholarship acceptance form. Should the student fail to enroll in classes, the money will be returned to the scholarship donor, and an alternate winner will be selected.

Application Process:

1. Fill out the scholarship application. (Download the application.)
2. Include a letter of acceptance from a technical school or two- or four-year college on official school letterhead .
3. Write an essay (see criteria below).
4. Include a picture of yourself with your child(ren).

Essay Questions: All responses must be typed; no hand-written entries, please. Check spelling and grammar before submission. All questions are mandatory. Answer all questions in four (4) total double-spaced, single-sided pages or less.

1. Tell your “story.” What have been your experiences as a teen mother?
2. What obstacles or hardships have you overcome as a teen mother?
3. How do you plan on balancing college/family life when you enroll in higher education?
4. What are your hopes, dreams, aspirations, or goals?
5. Any other information you would like the scholarship committee to know that you consider relevant to the application process.
