Q: What other resources are available for teenage mothers in Georgia? A: Check with your school guidance counselor or social worker. There are a variety of programs to help teenage mothers in Georgia. Some in the metro Atlanta area include Teens With Tots, Inc.; free daycare services provided by the Young Family Community Resource Center; and College Mom Magazine online. Q: I am pregnant; do I qualify for the scholarship? A: The scholarship is intended for teens who are already raising a child. In order to qualify, your baby must be born by January 31 of your senior year. Q: What is the amount of the scholarship, and is it payable to me, or to the college I will be attending ? A: The scholarship is $2,000 and is payable directly to a college or technical school. Q: I am getting my GED instead of attending a traditional school. Do I still qualify for the scholarship? A: Yes. The main criteria is that you have been accepted to a college, university, or technical school. Whether you finished your studies "traditionally" or via GED does not matter. What matters is that you choose to further your studies. Q: I do not have a Social Security number, or I am not a U.S. citizen. Do I still qualify for the scholarship? A: Yes. Again, the most important criteria is that you have been accepted to a college, university, or technical school. If the school does not require U.S. citizenship or a Social Security number for acceptance, then you may still apply for the scholarship.
